Horse Spirit

There's a deep rebellion within me.

I refused to comply, to conform,

I refused to stop questioning, to stop searching,

I rebel against worldviews of how we should be living our lives.

I rebel against wounded ancestry.

This is my life to live,

My thoughts to think,

My emotions to feel,

My body to experiment,

My life, my choices, my personal experience.

I don't need a religion to have faith,

I don't need to believe in a god to feel safe,

I don't need to purify my sinful nature,

to feel redeemed.

I'm flawed; I'm an inherently emotional being,

Being human is being emotional.

Being human is being flawed.

It's part of this nature, our nature.

As it's being loving, hopeful, optimistic.

As it's knowing that energy of it All is within me,

I am it and it is me.

When I walk, I feel your ground,

Your presence holds me,

And the great mother caresses my spirit.
